Privacy Policy — Echo Chain

Echo Chain is a game published by Kestrel Publishing. This policy explains what the app does with information on your device, and what our advertising partner collects.

It covers the same game under both of its store names: Echo Chain Rhythm on the Apple App Store, and Echo Chain on Google Play. The name differs only because another app already held "Echo Chain" on the App Store; the game is identical, and it appears as Echo Chain on your home screen on both platforms.

The short version

We do not ask you for your name, your email address, or any other personal detail, and the game has no accounts, no sign-in and no servers of our own. Your scores and settings never leave your phone. The app does show advertisements, and the advertising provider collects information in order to serve them.

What the app stores on your device

Echo Chain saves a small amount of information locally, so the game remembers your progress and preferences between sessions. This stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and we cannot see it:

• Your best score and your longest chain
• A table of your five highest scores, kept separately for each difficulty level
• How many runs you have played
• Which achievements you have earned, also kept separately for each difficulty level
• Your chosen colour scheme
• Your settings: music on or off, difficulty level, and your tap calibration offset
• A small diagnostic file recording whether advertising was set up correctly and how the game started. It holds short status lines and timestamps, is capped in size so it cannot grow, contains no information about you, and is never sent anywhere.

Removing the app deletes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else.

Erasing your progress

You do not have to reinstall the game to start again. Settings › RESET PROGRESS erases your score tables and your achievements, after asking you to confirm. Your difficulty level, music setting and tap calibration are kept, because those describe how you like to play rather than what you have done. Deleting the app removes everything, including those.

Advertising

Echo Chain shows advertisements supplied by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect and process information such as:

• Your device's advertising identifier
• Device and app information — model, operating system version, app version, language and approximate region
• Your IP address, which gives an approximate location
• Ad interactions, such as which ads were shown and whether they were tapped
• Diagnostic information the advertising software collects about its own operation

On iOS, Apple's SKAdNetwork may also be used to measure whether an advertisement led to an app being installed. That measurement is designed by Apple not to identify you.

This information is collected by Google rather than by us, and is handled under Google's own terms. You can read how Google uses data from apps that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

Your choices

• Consent. If you are in the UK, the European Economic Area or Switzerland, you will be asked to make a choice about personalised advertising the first time you open the game. You can change that choice at any time from Settings › AD PRIVACY OPTIONS, which appears in the regions where the choice applies.
• On iOS, the app will ask for permission before any tracking across other companies' apps and websites. If you decline, the game works exactly as before and you will still see advertisements, but they will be less relevant to you. You can change this later in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
• On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in Settings › Google › Ads.

Children

Echo Chain is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us using the address below and we will act on it.

What we do not do

• We do not collect your name, email address, phone number or postal address
• We do not add any analytics or crash-reporting service of our own. The advertising software described above collects diagnostic information about its own operation, and that is the only such collection in the app
• We do not access your contacts, photos, microphone, camera or precise location
• We do not sell information about you, and we do not have any to sell

Your rights

Under UK and EU data protection law you have rights over personal data held about you, including the right to access it, correct it, or have it erased. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to retrieve or delete — resetting your progress in the app, or deleting the app, removes everything the game saved. For data collected by Google in the course of serving advertisements, please use the Google links above, as Google is the controller of that information.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top. Material changes affecting how information is collected will also be noted in the app's store listing.
